About this Webinar

PH WINS (the Public Health Workforce Interests and Needs Survey) supports the governmental public health workforce by measuring strengths and gaps to inform future investments in funding, training, recruitment, and retention. Conducted in 2014, 2017, 2021, and 2024 by the de Beaumont Foundation and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, PH WINS is the only nationally representative source of data about the governmental public health workforce. It collects data on the demographics of the workforce and captures individual public health workers’ perspectives on key issues such as workforce engagement and morale, training needs, and emerging concepts in public health. This webinar will review the results of the survey in New England and show users how to access and use the data effectively.

What you'll learn

  • Describe the purpose and scope of the PH WINS survey, including its history, methodology, and key partners involved in its implementation.
  • Summarize key findings from the 2024 PH WINS survey specific to the New England region, including workforce demographics, training needs, and trends in engagement and morale.
  • Identify how PH WINS data can inform decision-making in areas such as workforce development, funding priorities, recruitment, and retention strategies.
  • Navigate the PH WINS data platform to access national and regional data, including filters and tools available for data exploration.
  • Apply PH WINS data to support strategic planning, grant writing, or policy development within participants’ own public health agencies or organizations.
